Angela Brodine is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor providing in-person and telehealth services. Her approach to counseling is genuine and empathetic, with a focus on bringing clarity, hope, and increased perspective to the client. She believes we are all trying to understand ourselves better, feel comfortable in our own skin, and find connection and understanding in our relationships and the world around us. Angela is passionate about working with adults who have experienced trauma, such as Veterans and military personnel, first responders, and those in helping professions. She appreciates how powerful a change in perspective or processing can be to those facing difficult circumstances.
Angela graduated with a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Her background includes in-home/community-based care for families, adults, adolescents, and children, as well as several years of offering therapy in an office setting.
She also has a background in holistic health and nutrition, which lends to her holistic counseling approach, meaning many parts – emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health – make up the whole.
Angela uses Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Gestalt Therapy in her approach. These theories emphasize client strengths, and build mental and emotional awareness to generate more resilience. They are also rooted in the idea that we can solve unfinished business from the past by addressing current struggles and aiming at goals for the future. In other words, the past does not always need to be discussed because the client determines where work is needed, but it can provide helpful context for solutions.
Angela currently lives in Bloomington, MN, where she loves to spend time with family, friends, and her dog. In her spare time she loves to read and watch documentaries about health, psychology, and history.
Angela works with adult individuals of all racial, economic, sexual, and mental health backgrounds.
